Hi friends! I wanted to share my experience with getting featured on Lookvine.com!
It all started a week ago, when I decided to pick up and actually read Terri Savelle Foy’s book called “Dream It. Pin It. Live It.”. I actually got it for free during one of the author’s sale events on her website. I love this author and I have been following her Youtube channel and podcast for two years now. SO many great things had happen since I started listening to Terri’s talks, but for some reason I can’t stick to reading her books! They are amazing don’t get me wrong. They just seem to cut through my core, cut through what really makes me who I am, and they make me think about who do I REALLY want to be. The truth is that when I find myself thinking about these things it makes me feel super anxious. Nevertheless, I started reading it and actually putting in action the exercises the book talks about.
One of the “Action Steps”, as the book calls it, was to write down 101 dreams. That was harder than I thought! It took me three days to complete the task. It was as if all of the sudden I forgot everything and ran out of imagination. I couldn’t believe I was putting so much pressure on myself about it that I literally couldn’t dream. After I got to item #34, I was able to let myself go and finished writing down the rest of my dreams. One of them was “I want to be featured on a magazine”. This is something I really want to accomplish, but to be honest I never really thought it would happen. Either way I made myself aware of the “how” can this happen and checked into my social media pages to make sure people know where to reach me if this opportunity were to ever happen.
That same week, I got an email from Lookvine’s team asking me if they could interview me for a chance to be featured on their next fashion article. At first, I thought that it was fake or that they got the wrong person since I don’t have many followers. I waited to actually respond until the day before the deadline for the interview was due. Then, I finally realized… what is there to loose? I answered all their questions, picked out five pictures to send them and clicked “send” to the email reply. As a result, they decided to use my picture as the cover page for their fashion article. I couldn’t believe it when I saw it! I couldn’t believe that they gave me that opportunity and that they actually featured my pictures on their article called Women Fashion for Summer 5 best outfits. Let me tell you a little secret! The picture they used as the cover page was one of my test shots for a photo shoot I was doing for my EGGIE Lookbook Video. That picture turned out to be a very well liked picture. That picture was the one were I didn’t pressure myself into making it perfect. That picture was the one were I just did without fearing failure!
The point that I am trying to make my friends is that we can’t allow ourselves to stop dreaming. Keep on dreaming and keep on learning how to actually make those dreams a reality! Have fun dreaming as big/small as you want!
